So Friday night after somewhat cleaning the house in preperation for company we decided to go to bed around 10. I thought that we might want to sleep in past 4:45 so I went to the pantry to pick up a kong stuffer for Grace to chew on. Now mind you this was late at night (ok late for me) and I was just making a quick trip, so I did not have my contacts on or my glasses. I am blind...really really blind. I can't see more than about 4 inches in front of my face without my glasses 2 if I'm not skquenting so when I went to pick up the kong stuffers out of the bottom of the pantry I did not see what was there...
I picked them up, a mouse, at least I think it was a mouse I'm blind remember, fell and ran across my foot to god knows where. At this point I begin to freak out. I don't do mice and I really don't do mice that I can't see. So here I am shreaking without rhyme or reason, I've hit my hand so hard I've brused under my middle finger and cut myself. Bryan comes out asks me what's wrong and I scream Mouse! I can't see. So my dear husband starts searching for the mouse. This makes me mad....the mouse is gone, but I still can't see so I yell at him Get my Glasses! I can't see.
He does even if he does not understand my logic and thinks I'm crazy. We search for the mouse, poor Grace is still in her kennel and a little worried so we let her out. We start emptying out the pantry and find mouse droppings...The mouse/mice have eatten through the dog food package that the vet gave us so we clean out the bottom section of the pantry and I move on to the shelves. All this time Grace keeps coming up to me licking me and backing away. I think I really freaked her out. The good news is there are no signs of mice above the bottom section and I got a clean pantry. The bad news is we didn't get to bed until around 11:45, Grace still woke us up at 4:45 and now we have a mouse we need to catch.
As for the rest of the weekend it went well. We had a lovely lunch with Bryan's brother and mom and Rich, had a great time at Quinn's birthday party besides Grace almost peeing on Mark and Erin's newly cleaned white carpet. Their home looks beautiful and we had a great time on the deck. Oh and Grace is learning "Say Hi", Shake, Roll Over and Spin this week.
On Sunday we went to the La Posada for brunch which was wonderful and we highly recomend it to anyone who is traveling though Winslow or thinking about visiting us. I had the Corn Maiden Baked Eggs and they were awesome. Bryan had Eggs Benidict with a chipotle hollindase sauce. The Gardens were beautiful and the different spaces were just really nice. I totally recomend it to anyone whether you love architecture, good food, or just want a place to relax it is perfect! The muesums were really cool too and the modern art was interesting. Bryan was impressed when he found a couch from Teddy Roosevelt's Phantom Ranch Cabin at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was pretty cool and like I said I highly, highly recomend it. I wish we would have had more time to explore, but it was off to super Walmart to buy mouse traps.
When we got home we hopped in the Jeep and took Rich and Janet the back way to Sunset Crater and Wupaki. That was pretty cool too and definately deserves more time, but I had a presentation to prepare, Bryan was hot, and Janet and Rich had to get going so we had dinner and both headed home. It was a great weekend all around and I'm going to be very excited to show more people the cool places around us. I'm also going to be excited to be done with my Multicultural Counseling Class tomorrow, but that's another blog. Here are the links to the pictures from this weekend.
