I have accomplished all my short term fitness goals

So in January I decided that I wanted to become a badass in terms of my physical fitness for Zippy's sake.  I wanted her to see what a healthy body image and habits could look like.  I didn't really care if I lost weight or my appearance changed, I just wanted to be able to pick her up, swing her and to be able to keep up with her physically.  I set a couple of goals and I got a trainer, cause they are a great deal at NAU.  First I wanted to be able to run the half a mile to my mailbox without stopping.  I've never been able to run very far and I figured that would be a good cardio goal.  After that I wanted to run a full mile.  To tell you the truth I never thought I'd be able to do either.  I also wanted to be able to do an unassisted pull up.  I knew I could do that, because I had in the past.  It had been a really really long time (think last century).

In March I was able to run a half a mile to my mailbox and back.  My house is at about 6200 feet.  It took me until the end of April to run that in Flagstaff (7100 feet).  Last week I was able to do a pull up unassisted.  Bryan said the look on my face was utter shock.  I told him that I didn't think that it would be so easy.  I thought I would try struggle a bit, and make it about half way.  I totally did not think that I could do it on my own that night.  It was crazy.  Then on Thursday last week I actually ran a mile in Flagstaff.  A whole mile without stopping and I wasn't really winded afterwards.  I really didn't believe it.  And then my trainer made me walk a lap, and had me run a half a mile, then walk a lap and a quarter mile, and then walk a lap. When I was done I totally felt that I could run a 5k with walking breaks in between the miles.  Today I squat lifted with 100 lbs on my back and I feel like a complete badass.  I can also swing my baby in the air, hold her up for long periods of time to see elephants eat carrots, and can keep up with her when she is RUNNING in my parent's backyard with her roadrunner. I know I have to work to keep this up, and I'll probably continue with a trainer for a long time, cause you know I can make any excuse in the world up to not go, but today I am proud of myself.

You should be proud of yourself! Kids are a great motivator because they just keep getting bigger.
