So I'm at lunch yesterday and we were discussing an upcoming camping trip to go dig for fire aggots and visit the hotsprings in Safford. I was excited. I was going to get to dig in the dirt, jeep and Bryan and the boys were talking about renting dirtbikes and whatnot. This meant I was going to get my own dirtbike to play with and I was really excited. The subject of their wives came up. Apparently their wives aren't going. I told them I didn't want to go on another sausagefest camping trip and wondered why their wives weren't coming. They talked about how their wives didn't enjoy noise, or dirt, or atvs and I was then told if I want to do boy things then I have to hang out with boys.
I was a little confused by this statement. First of all I am probably the most sterotypical "girly" of all of these women. I wear skirts, get all dressed up, love to shop, knit, bake, garden, sew, and know emily post backwards and forwards. I go to the theater, and the symphony, and the artfest. But I also motorcycle, dig in the dirt, smoke cigars, and drink scotch. I can carry on a conversation about early childhood development and then in the next sentance talk about the construction of a building and shooting guns. I'm a pretty well rounded person who is always ready for adventure, so why did I feel like my femininity was attacked because I want to do these things? Why is there an assumption made that these are boy things to do? And why is it that I want to call up my parents and thank them for not establishing boy things and girl things in my life? Sorry my inner feminist is showing.

Good thing having a penis isn't a prerequisite for enjoying motorcycles... in fact I believe you have an advantage in that area! Go have fun girl!
Ha! So true!
Dude, those boys and their wives are just jealous you're so well-rounded and wicked awesome. And you make damn fine quick chili.
