From Bob, my father in law, to his son: Your grandmother is bringing your grandfather's B-24 PilotsFlight Jacket , along with his white pilots scarf for you when she comes to visit. In addition , she has some pictures of him in the cockpit and a newspaper article about how he landed his severely damaged B-24 with a full load of bombs with no harm to his crew. I quess the landing was quite miraculous and many were in disbilief that he was able to return to England across the channel and able to land such a badly damaged aircraft in such lousy weather conditions. Nonetheless , she is brining this stuff for you.
I reply He is going to LOVE it!
Bob's reply: She is really '' excited '' to visit. She is pleased that Bryan wants this stuff. I t really means alot to her. Of course, Bryan been her favorite grandchild. ( rightfully so) If you know anything about ''restoring leather'' , that woul be nice. Quite amizaingly, this jacket has basically been hanging on a hanger , like any other jacket for the past 70 years. I rememberas a kid, the jacket hung in our basement ( in 4 different houses) Ocassionally , I would take in down and play with it ( along with his dress uniform ) . It is definaterly a piece of history, from a different era.
And what bryan wrote near the same time: we have to go to wallyworld tonight, i just ripped a 6 inch hole in my crotch that I just repaired in my office with a stapler.
